The Eagles are wasting no time after parting ways with Sean Desai and Matt Patrica.

Ron Rivera is interviewing for the Eagles open defensive coordinator position, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Rivera was recently fired as head coach of the Washington Commanders, but is a defensive-minded coach with experience.

Rivera was the Eagles’ linebackers coach from 1999-2003 under And Reid. He was also the defensive coordinator for the Bears (2004-06) and Chargers (2008-10). He also served as the Panthers head coach from 2011-19.

This season with Washington, Rivera fired defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio and took back control of the defense.

When Rivera was with the Chargers, he turned a defense that was ranked 15th in points and 25th in yards in 2008 to ranked first in yards and 10th in points in 2010.

Rivers could be a great option to help revamp the defense and get the unit back on the right track.
