Are you really surprised at this point?

The Eagles continued their downward spiral Sunday with an humiliating 27-10 loss to the Giants at MetLife Stadium.

The Eagles got embarrassed… again!!

The Eagles are the second team in NFL history to start 10-1 and not win 12 games (the Jets started 10-1 in 1986 and finished 11-6). Also, the Eagles are the first team in 37 years to start 10-1 and not win the division.

Talk about a meltdown.

The Eagles are just a joke right now. How can you be 10-1, lead the conference and division and let it all collapse? Was it the blowout loss to the Niners? Did that just take away all their momentum and confidence? Because they are playing with zero confidence or heart. It’s like they don’t care. They did play with heart before the Niners game…. But how did one loss destroy everything? After the first quarter against San Francisco to Sunday, it has been a complete disaster.

Going into this season, the expectations were high. Most of the team that went to the Super Bowl returned. Not every game in the first 11 were pretty, but they figured out ways to win. That went to finding ways to lose to these last two weeks of mediocrity.

From tackling to the same dumb mistakes, everything that could have gone wrong Sunday just went even worse.

The Giants had not beaten a winning team all year. They are not good. The Eagles needed to win to get some type of momentum before the playoffs, and they let the Giants walk all over them. The Eagles had four turnovers, granted two of those were by Marcus Mariota. But the Eagles are still a professional team, so that is no excuse. The Eagles could have easily been beaten by a lot more than 17 points.

Jalen Hurts wasn’t great either in the time he played. He didn’t read the blitz well and took three sacks. He didn’t see the field right when he was blitzed and either rolled out and threw it away or made a bad throw under pressure. Hurts finished 7-for-16 for 55 yards with no touchdowns and an interception.

And things won’t get easier Monday night with the Buccaneers, who blitz the third-most in the league. Tampa Bay has won five of its last six games after starting the 4-7. The Buccaneers aren’t a great team but at least they started heating up going into the playoffs, like most playoff teams this time of year.

But the Eagles… the total opposite. The last few weeks were like a circus. It was a complete and catastrophic collapse.

Do you think the Eagles even have a shot to beat the Buccaneers? You would be a fool to have any faith in this team.

Sure, anything can happen. But the way this team is playing right now, this ship basically has already sailed. Or sunk … any metaphor for this complete failure of a season works.

Hopefully A.J. Brown is not seriously hurt and can play, and the same for DeVonta Smith. The Eagles don’t stand a chance without them. But, in the end, does it really matter? Yes, there are other injuries. Like, will Darius Slay be back? But with or without these players, the Eagles have not instilled any faith.

It’s basically all over now.

I’m honestly lost for words. Just last week I was saying the Eagles should not fire Nick Sirianni, at least not yet. I thought that he deserved one more season. But if they lose to the Buccaneers, which is more than likely, then he is probably gone. And Dean Desai, Matt Patrica and Brian Johnson will probably be gone, too. At least I hope.

Again, it’s sickening because of how this year went. The Eagles have the offense, but always doing the same plays doesn’t help. The Eagles have been figured out for a while now. They need to adjust but don’t. They are stubborn. They think they are OK, but they aren’t. The coaching staff likes their scheme, but it’s not working.

Everything about this team is a mess.

And more than likely, next week is the last game the Eagles will have until September. Any team can always win, but not with this team.

All hope has been out the window, and it has been for the past month.
