It was an exciting Sunday.
Actually, the last few days were fun— well, for Eagles’ fans at least.
The Washington Commanders lost 37-3 to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. But that wasn’t really surprising. The New York Giants lost 30-12 to the San Francisco 49ers. Again, not shocking.
What was surprising?
The Dallas Cowboys lost 28-16 to the Arizona Cardinals, who might just be one of the worst teams in the NFC. Again, the Dallas Cowboys, who were considered Super Bowl contenders after having a very impressive and dominant first two games, lost to the Cardinals.
Dallas never led in the game Sunday— against the Cardinals.
The Cardinals…. The same team who just blew a 20-0 lead against the Giants in Week 2!
The Cardinals…. The same team who Dallas was 11.5-points favorites against.
The Cardinals!!!
Jonathan Gannon owed Eagles’ fans something, I guess. This still doesn’t make up for anything, but it’s a start on the road to forgiveness (not really).
And he wasn’t the only former Eagle to help make magic. Kyzir White made the game-sealing interception in the end zone. The Cowboys were called for 13 penalties for 107 yards. Dallas made many mistakes, like late in the third quarter when a huge punt return was called back due to holding.
The Cowboys hurt themselves Sunday.
HOW ‘BOUT THEM COWBOYS!!
OK— let’s get serious.
This was massive for the Eagles. With a win Monday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Eagles will be a game up on the Cowboys and the Commanders, who are both 2-0, in the NFC East. The Eagles could be two games up on the Giants (1-2).
It’s still early in the season, but this could arguably be dubbed a must-win game.
The Eagles play Washington in Week 4, another opportunity to create even more breathing room in the division.
Then the Eagles have the Los Angeles Rams, New York Jets, Miami Dolphins, Washington and then the Cowboys, in that order, before their bye.
Getting a win Monday would go a long way.
