The emotional damage is still severe in San Francisco.
That was pretty evident the last few days as 49ers star wide receiver Deebo Samuel avoided questions Monday stemming from his previous comments about the NFC Championship and his displeasure with the Eagles (or “not having a fair chance” due to injuries).
Samuel was interviewed on CBS Sports Radio’s “The Zach Gelb Show” Monday night. Gelb asked Samuel about his comments back in February about winning the game by double digits if Brock Purdy didn’t get hurt.
“I don’t know that though,” Samuel said with an attitude.
Gelb then asked if Samuel still felt that way.
“I do, but we’re not gonna keep talking about that. I said what I said,” Samuel said.
The Eagles host the 49ers in Week 13 on Dec. 3. When asked about the rematch (a good question) and if he had a message for Eagles fans, Samuel hung up the phone and someone from the 49ers’ public relations department ended the interview.
Way to handle that professionally, Deebo.
“We lost because we played with 10 people,” Samuel said in May. “I ain’t going to keep going on about what could’ve happened and what would have happened but yeah, it would’ve definitely been a different outcome (if San Fran was healthy).”
FYI Deebo… your top five defense was fully healthy and allowed 31 points. Your defense could’ve helped your team stay somewhat closer.
Looks like the Eagles may have gotten in his head.
And to make matters even more embarrassing, the whining continued Tuesday when 95.7 The Game’s morning host Joe Shasky called out Eagles fans.
“You’re lower life scumbags more than anyone,” said Shasky, referring to Eagles fans. “I’m sick of it. It’s OK to be a dirty, crappy fan because you’re in Philadelphia. If Niner fans did this, you know what they would file it under? Thugs.”
Give me a break, man.
Do you want a tissue?
Shasky continued by saying he’s been to both the Eagles and 49ers stadiums and Niner fans “are a little bit different.”
What does that mean?
“We do this thing with Philadelphia fans. Awww, oh, oh you don’t know what’s coming for ya,” Shasky sarcastically said. “What? A bunch of lowlife scumbags cussing and swearing things and throwing things at people. I’m so sick of it and good for Deebo for hanging up on him. Screw Philadelphia.”
Easy to say behind a microphone, buddy. Come say that in the Linc’s parking lot on Dec. 3. I’m sure it’ll go over well.
So if that’s how San Fran players, fans and players feel, well I say let them. Let them dwell on last year while the Eagles aim to get back to the Super Bowl.
Like Jason Kelce once said, “no one likes us and we don’t care.”
FLY EAGLES FLY

You sound DUMB! I’ll put it to you like this…if Jaylen Hurts get injured…EAGLES are picking in the top 10 in the NFL DRAFT last yr. We lost 4 QBs…total…yet made it the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME…where if Brock would’ve been healthy…we blow y’all out. The man has answered the some questions over and over again about the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME…why keep asking him?! Pretty sure you’d be annoyed if you were asked the same questions, different ways for 7 months straight. Also…if you recall…we were actually down 14-7 late in the first half, driving down the field and our 4th string QB fumbled the snap and the Eagles recover…then he gets knocked out the game with a concussion. Smh…so many things happened in that game..but we’ll see what happens in December! #Go49ers

But that vaunted defense had a 30+ spot put up on them. “If this happens” or “if only” mean nothing. The Eagles blew them out yet the Numbers players coaches and fans are STILL crying. It’s pathetic. Have never seen a softer fan base, ever.
