An unstoppable force meets an unmovable object in the NFC title game as the conference’s two best teams square off at the Linc. The matchups are pretty close across the board as we pointed out on this week’s episode. The Eagles get an edge at QB, WRs, secondary, and both lines. That last one is where the Eagles will win this game.
This matchup just screams “trenches” to me. Whoever wins at the line of scrimmage will come out on top, and quite frankly, the Eagles are just a tad better.
This very well could be the best offensive line we have seen in Philadelphia. One could argue that the entire line could have been voted into the pro bowl this season. They will be tested by a very good 49ers front, featuring Joey Bosa coming off an 18-sack season, but I just can’t see them losing this battle. The Eagles will try to run the ball, and I think they will have at least moderate success at it. If Jalen Hurts is given enough time to get the ball down field, look out because the Niners secondary leaves a lot to be desired. That’s where AJ Brown may have himself a day.
The Eagles defensive line was two sacks away from tying the all-time NFL record. There is balance at every position up front, and I expect them to get in rookie Brock Purdy’s face often. This is a type of front that he has not faced yet, and his patience and talents will be tested. The Niners o-line is good, but I can’t envision a scenario that this front doesn’t make an impact in this game. If they don’t, and the Niners are gifted with enough time to dink and dunk, this could be a long game for the defense.
Did I mention that Brock Purdy is a rookie? What he has done so far has been unconventional and unheard of. He definitely deserves praise for that. But I’m sorry, he’s not coming into the raucous Linc in an NFC title game and winning. At least not this year. The clock strikes 12 and his carriage turns back into a pumpkin.
I am expecting a very close battle until the 4th quarter when the Eagles take a decent lead. The Niners score late but the Eagles are able to ice the game and head to their second Super Bowl in five years. Eagles 23, 49ers 16

The final 4! After completely destroying the Giants the San Francisco 49ers come to the Linc with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line.
The Niners are a formidable opponent, the NFL sack leader Nick Bosa is a handful. They are also formidable against the run and the pass defense is tough as well. Winners of 12 in a row, the 49ers are on a roll. That being said last week VS the Cowboys was 1st solid defense they played during that run and they struggled.
The only time the Eagles didn’t look like the best team in the league was when they had self inflicted wounds, no one has truly shut them down. I think that trend continues, although it’s close the Eagles are the better team. In a back and forth entertaining game I think the Eagles punch their ticket to the Super Bowl! Eagles 24, 49ers 20

Well, the time has come and here we are in the NFC Championship Game. I have been rough on the Eagles this season and they kept proving me wrong so I’m going the other direction today. The 49ers come into the Linc for an old old school NFC battle as the 49ers defense and Brock “Not So” Purdy under center has led them to the number 2 seed. Now on the other hand, the Philadelphia Eagles have arguably the Best QB in the NfC with the best offensive line in front of him as well as a 1000 yard rusher behind him. Let’s not forget the other side of the ball with two of the best cornerbacks in the league and also 70 plus sacks from the defensive line . As a whole, the Eagles have the edge here in this physical match up. Eagles 28, 49ers 20

There was a time in 2018 when Minnesota Vikings’ fans thought it would be a clever idea to decorate the Rocky statue, an iconic symbol in Philadelphia, in their team’s gear ahead of their NFC Championship with the Eagles.
That quickly backfired.
Don’t you just hate arrogant and obnoxious fans (and I know what some outsiders are thinking right now, but Eagles’ are the best). Anyway, I think (smart) fans of other teams learned their lesson. … or did they?
Some very brave 49ers fans draped the famous statue, symbolizing the underdog mentality in this city, with a red jersey, and a small one, if I may add. Maybe they don’t know how to judge size? There were videos of them mocking the E A G L E S chant, too….
Here we go again
In all seriousness, the Niners are a threat. Let’s get that out of the way. There should be no overlooking this team. The Niners defense and offense is solid. Explosive playmakers at multiple positions. They possess everything a championship team has.
There’s only one issue.
Brock Purdy is still a rookie quarterback who has only played two road games, and none were as intense as Sunday will be. Purdy played at the Seahawks and at the Raiders— nothing like an NFC Championship.
The biggest key in this game is getting to Purdy early and often. Get him rattled! Remember in 2018– down 7-0 early and then Patrick Robinson altered the entire game and momentum with a pick-six?
That needs to happen again! Bring the pressure early, and force Purdy to throw interceptions. Get turnovers! And once that happens, let the offense score and do what they do best.
If that happens and the crowd is into it — and you know they will— the Eagles will win this game. Not easily. I still think the Niners make it close, but not enough to win. If the game was on the West Coast, maybe. Not at the Linc! Eagles 27, 49ers 21

We talked about this on the show and did the position by position comparison. It’s about as even as it gets and I truly believe these are the top 2 teams. I feel there is one X factor. Number 1, Jalen hurts.
It won’t be easy. I see it as a nail biter. I see it as a low scoring defensive battle. Ed Kracz said they need to run the ball to set up the pass. That makes sense despite San Fran having a good run defense and suspect pass defense. I see the run setting up the pass and AJ brown having a solid game.
Last week I think we saw what happens when SF QB Brock Purdy plays a really good defense. Less than 225 and no passing TDs. I think this will be the same type of game for him.
I see this as a game where the Eagles are up one and driving. They get stopped in the red zone with about a minute and a half left and kick a fg to go up 4. We will sweat it out but get the needed stop and win a nail biter. Eagles 20, 49ers 16.
