We now know who the Eagles will meet in the Divisional Round, which is aptly named in this case. The Birds will host the Giants at the Linc on Saturday, following a hard fought victory over the Vikings on Sunday evening.
We know that being a divisional game heightens the element. We know that these two teams know each other pretty well, especially being that they just met two weeks ago.
We also know that it’s hard to beat a team three times in a season…wait, but that’s actually not true.
Since the merger in the 70’s, teams that are 2-0 and at home for a third matchup are 12-6 in those games. The Eagles have a chance to add a win to that total in their attempt to advance to their second NFC Championship game in five years.
The last time the Giants and Eagles met two weeks ago, the offense was very “vanilla” and now that decision to roll out such a game plan looks to be a smarter one. This time around, the playbook should be emptied, and it’ll be too much for the Giants to handle.
I expect this game to be a tough battle for most of it, with both teams giving their all, but I am not worried about a letdown. As good as the Giants offense looked in their win in Minnesota, the Vikings defense is NOT the Eagles defense. As long as the Eagles don’t commit self-inflicted damage, they will be hosting a game on Championship Sunday.
Philly will be rocking on Saturday night!
