Aaron Rodgers is still a threat.
The Green Bay Packers may have lost six of their last seven games, but the four-time MVP (and the winner the last two years) is still capable of making plays. But we know he won’t win MVP again this season.
The coveted award could be going to the quarterback across from him tonight— Jalen Hurts. Sure, Rodgers has already punched his ticket into the Hall of Fame, and Hurts is not even close to being-Canton worthy. But this isn’t about career accolades or numbers. It’s about this season and nothing else.
The Packers are only averaging 17.7 points per game (12.2 in the road). Green Bay’s defense isn’t terrible, but it has allowed 27 or more points in five of its last seven games. And the Packers have played a tough schedule and are playing without many weapons for Rodgers.
The Packers best wide receivers arguably are Allen Lazard and rookie Christian Watson, who has been heating up lately. There is also Robert Tonyan, and Aaron Jones is dangerous out of the backfield. Stop these guys, bring pressure on Rodgers (we are talking to you, Jonathan Gannon), the Eagles offense doesn’t start sluggishly like it has the last two games, and Philly should improve to 10-1.
The Eagles just can’t look at the Packers’ 4-7 record and get too confident. Rodgers can still keep it close, and he will hurt you if you don’t take him seriously. Philly needs to get Miles Sanders more involved, and hopefully Hurts won’t run around as much. It’s great having a quarterback who can extend the play, and make plays with his feet but injuries will happen if Hurts keeps running around. He has been throwing more, so the latter shouldn’t be an issue. It won’t be a blowout, but the Eagles will win. Also expect a Darius Slay interception.

The last few weeks should raise some concern if you’re an Eagles fan. The team has not played particularly well and barely squeaked by the Colts last week thanks to some gutsy plays by Jalen Hurts and a defense refusing to quit. Maybe this is the team’s identity now until they get back some key pieces from injury. They have teams gunning for them and giving them all they can handle, and the Eagles seem to be struggling to adjust as we’ve seen some slow starts out of the offense lately.
One thing that should be easily corrected are the self-inflicted errors such as the drive-killing penalties and the sloppy turnovers. This is not what this team has shown for most of the season and I don’t expect that to continue now.
The play calling has also been questionable at times. For instance, in the second half last week against the Colts, deep in their own territory, the staff called three straight running plays to Boston Scott which went nowhere. Definitely head scratching for sure.
Everything I just wrote goes out the window this week. Donning all black uniforms for the first time, the Eagles are going to strike fast and early against the Packers at home in Sunday Night Football and people like me will relax on my concerns.
Darius Slay and James Bradbury will have strong games against Allen Lazard and Christian Watson, and they will get help from pressure from the defensive line on Aaron Rodgers. This game is a nice lead early with Green Bay getting a late garbage time touchdown to make it look respectable. Eagles 27, Packers 20

The ups and downs of the NFL season. Through 7 games the Eagles looked absolutely unstoppable, then the Houston Texans exposed them a bit. The league has definitely adjusted to Jalen Hurts and the offense by running the ball and don’t let the Eagles offense get in a rhythm. The same thing happened last week vs the Colts as Jonathan Taylor went right down the field on opening drive for a TD. After that, the additions of Suh and Joseph made a major impact shutting down Taylor and the Colts.
Where the Eagles offense has struggled is turnovers and penalties, not allowing themselves to get in a rhythm. I think that changes this week in a big way, the league adjusted now I feel the Eagles will adjust. The Packers come in struggling on offense, Aaron Rodgers looks old and doesn’t have Davante Adams on the outside. It is Aaron Rodgers but no one on this offense is a truly scary player, I feel the Eagles get it together and this isn’t even close. If they struggle against the Packers it’s to time to start being concerned, I don’t think that happens though. Eagles big here. Eagles 34, Packers 13
