Although Howie has had a great off season there are still loads of questions that linger around our beloved Eagles. People are drinking the Kool aid about the Super Bowl, but how about we just take a deep breath and win one game at a time. I do believe the Eagles win today, but at the end of the game you will still be scratching your wondering I’m excited to see what we have this season. Eagles 28-17

The Lions are an improved team from last year and will give a better fight than they did last season when they fell 44-6. The Eagles are also an improved team on paper but will the lack of preseason reps affect the teams performance in the early going? I think it will. Expect some sloppy play, but a few defensive stops help the Birds get to 1-0. Eagles 28-20

On paper the Eagles had one of the best offseasons in the league. Now it is time to see how that translates onto the field. Looking at it from a cautious approach. I wasn’t thrilled with the extremely limited preseason game reps from the first team which leads me to believe this will be a slow start for them. Also, there are a lot of new faces on the Eagles which might lead to them taking a bit of time getting acclimated with each other. One last point, the first week is always hard to predict across the NFL. Taking all of this into account, I can understand the trepidation from my fellow CPS crew members.

From an optimistic approach. The Eagles beat up on the Lions pretty good last year and seemed to get better this year. The Lions got better as well if by no other way than the 2nd overall pick in Hutchinson. In order to have the 2nd overall pick, even if many of the games were close, you generally have to be a pretty bad team, it’s not like it’s an aberration for the Lions, they generally end up as a bottom 10 team most years.

With all that being said, I think the Birds start slow and are down 7-0 going into the second quarter. This is where things change, and talent takes over. Are we really that afraid of Goff, Swift, and St. Brown? The Eagles outscore the Lions 17-3 in the second quarter and have a 17-10 lead into halftime. They start pouring it on in the 3rd tacking on 10 unanswered points. They let up another TD in the 4th, which at that point makes it 27-17. Just when there is a bit of nerves that creep back in, the Eagles have a solid time-consuming drive resulting in a FG and you have your final score: Eagles 30-17
